The
Bailey Tigers were born out of a works team from the local Tesco
store in Dungannon in the year 2000. Playing only a series of "friendly"
matches during the summer weeks against like minded shop and factory
teams, Tesco's began to compete in Internal Tesco tournaments throughout
Ireland.
The "Tigers"
came from the fact that we were no longer allowed to use the Tesco
name, for reasons unbeknown to us. Feeling like outcasts, and with
no name, our attention was drawn to a group of rebels from Sri Lanka
who were also being treated as outcasts - The Tamel Tigers. With
sponsorship sought and gained from a brand new bar/nightclub that
had recently been opened in Dungannon (The Bailey), the Bailey Tigers
were born.
In our first season
we captured the prestigious Cookstown Street League and in 2005/
2006 we added the Lonsdale league to our collection. Last season
we gained promotion to the Mid Ulster Division 3 in our first attepmt.
And so onwards - who knows what the next chapter will bring.....
